Reading Wrap-Up/It's Monday What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

Last week was difficult for me physically, awaiting a few test results, but on the mend feeling much better.  We were able to spend Valentine's Day with our grandson!  He brings such joy and laughter.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Festive in Death by J.D. Robb
Eve investigates the death of a personal trainer that turns out to be a real jerk. Many of the suspects are glad that he is dead, but Eve knows that as distasteful as the victim is turning out to be she much bring the killer to justice. Meanwhile, the annual party that Roarke and she hosts is quickly coming and as much as she'd rather bury her head in the investigation she has promised to be part of the preparations.  Another good installment in this series.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Every day Rachel rides the train to and from work.  She is observes life as she travels and see something one day that she just can't forget.  As the days go on we discover that she may be less than a reliable narrator as we learn how much of a mess her life has become.  She decides to go to the police with what she has seen and then becomes more involved. A couple of other characters lend their voice to the story that will keep you guessing as to what really happened. A well written debut that showed me something about myself that I need to change.

How to Catch A Prince by Rachel Hauck
Five years ago American Heiress Corrina was attending university in a small country she meets and falls in love with Prince Stephen.  They secretly marry and he goes off to war. When he returns a broken man, he tells her the marriage was not registered and therefore not valid. Her life has been forever changed by the death of her twin brother in the same war.  One day Stephen turns up at her door and tells her that they need an annulment as the marriage is real. She agrees in exchange for the truth about what really happened to her brother.  The information is classified, but Stephen desperate to get back to health to play rugby so he can forget just may give her what she wants.  A gentle HEA read.

Doctor Death by Lena Kaaberboel
A great beginning to a new series.  More thoughts here.

Oh, I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day! (And he's a little cutie!)

By the way, don't be too hard on yourself as I found myself being a bit judgemental about our lead character Rachel as I read Girl on the Train as well. God she was frustrating!

I hope you continue to feel better this week and I'm glad you got to spend some time with your grandson! Sounds like the perfect Valentine's Day :)

I am not sure if I'd like The Girl on the Train though I am curious enough that I will probably give it a try at some point. I've heard the main character is difficult to like and that can be a dealbreaker for me.

I do want to read How to Catch a Prince. I've enjoyed some of the other books in that series. The books in the series so far kind of remind me of The Prince and Me or Princess Diaries.

Cole is such a cutie, spending Valentine's Day with him sounds perfect! I'm still waiting on more test results for possible Lupus diagnosis but when I'm in pain and feeling sorry for myself, seeing Mia makes me smile and feel a whole lot better. Hope you get good news Nise and have a better week.

I loved Best Kept Secret, especially poignant with Amy's unique insight with that issue. I finished The Girl on the Train last week, what a messed up bunch but I have to admit I ended up feeling some empathy for Rachael.

What a darling! enjoy every minute :)

and I do hope your health restores. I've been so out of sight online as RA has been too painful in fingers and wrists when I'm typing the amount required to not just post, but all the other visits and research required.
A tough call...

Here's my MONDAY READING
