Weekly Reading ReCap/IMWAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

I had a little helper wrapping presents!  He got an early Christmas present and had a great time playing. Cole is the best present we received this year! Hope you and your family have a wonderful celebration.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

What Happens At Christmas by Victoria Alexander
Widowed Camille is hoping for a marriage proposal from a prince. He wants to experience a true English Christmas. Camille is sure her family will not put forth a true picture so she hires actors to portray her family during the celebration. All is going according to plan until her childhood friend, neighbor and the man who declared his love on the eve of her wedding shows up everything changes. Grayson is back to claim her and will not take no for an answer. Hilarious fun! A great start to the Millworth Manor series..

We Are Not Ourselves by Matthew Thomas
What a wonderful debut novel. I was quickly drawn into Eileen's life. As a young girl of Irish Immigrants she wants more for her life than what she grew up with and is determined to live the "American Dream". She chooses a career in nursing, meets Ed her future husband and is sure the life she has always wanted is within her grasp. As their life unfolds, things do not always go her way and at times she is hard to like. The story took a turn that I was not expecting and it had me turning the pages mesmerized.  This chunkster is well worth the time it takes to read.

Viscount of Vice by Shana Galen
This novella introduces a new series. Emma has loved Flynn forever. Her brother will do whatever it takes to keep them apart, which is okay with Flynn as he want nothing to do with her. So how come he can't take his eyes off her and she is everywhere he goes? When Flynn learns that his long lost brother has been found, both of them are swept up in the intrigue and mystery. I liked both characters and look forward to this series.

Reading:
Earls Just Want To Have Fun by Shana Galen
I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

Up Next:
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
The Good Girl By Mary Kubica

I thought We Are Not Ourselves was a great debut - it made my Best Debuts of 2014 list. I thought the first part dealing with Eileen's childhood was a little slow, but loved it once the focus moved to her life with Ed.
