Last night in San Francisco
Avery Laine served a mojito to the most morose guy in the bar. "I got home," he said, "and she had cleaned out the house. Not just the furniture and the assets. She even took the ice cube tray. What kind of woman takes the ice cube trays? We had an automatic ice maker. She made a big fuss about buying ice cube trays as a backup, and two weeks later she was gone. She bought the trays to make a point? Was that necessary?" His name was Carl Lynch, but to Avery and the other servers, he was their Norm, a hung-over, grumbling basset hound of a guy and their resident barfly"
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. "Why don't you stay until I get off? It's only another hour until last call, and that latest killing makes me nervous." Avery knew immediately which killing; not that there weren't murders galore in the Bay Area every day, but this one.. "It was in Santa Cruz."

I'd have to read a bit more to be sure, but I think I could get into this book -- esp. when I read the teaser.
Hmmm...not sure yet, but sounds like it has potential to be good. I'd read more --enjoy.
liking the descriptive writing style - would probably give it more opps to intrigue me... enjoy ;)
You had me at San Francisco...and that excerpt made me laugh, even as I felt sad for the guy. Yes, I guess the woman was making a point about the ice cube trays...but now I want to know more of the story.
Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “A FIREPROOF HOME FOR THE BRIDE”
Yes. I would keep reading. I like the ice cube story.
I love the dialogue (or is it a monologue?) in the opening. It sounds so real! I'd keep reading. Your Teaser makes me wonder how the murders tie in with the bar. Sounds like a good story.
My Tuesday post features FAT CHANCE.
I like the intro quite a book and would definitely keep reading. I hope this turned out to be a good one.
I laughed. The only thing worse would be in that old country song the guy arrives at the trailer park and his wife and the mobile home were gone.
Mine this week is Bohemians of the Latin Quarter which was the basis for the opera La Bohème. http://wp.me/pZnGI-gt
Hmm, not sure about this, but it does sound a bit humorous. Taking the ice cube trays, that's a low-down trick! I am not familiar with this author but I think I put it on my wishlist awhile ago, so apparently someone reviewed it and it sounded promising to me. Enjoy it!
Maybe him being a resident barfly is why she left?
That teaser has me wondering... is he involved somehow in the killing? Sounds good though.
I definitely want to read this one.
My first impression is he may know something or be involved in the killing. I'm curious:)
Here's my TT - http://fuonlyknew.com/2014/12/16/teaser-tuesdays-92-dependent/
This one sounds interesting. I'd keep reading.....at least for awhile.
Aww, I liked Norm. I'd read more to see what's going to happen next.
I'd keep reading. This one looks good. I love the cover of the book. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
I'd like to know more, especially about the woman's obsession with ice cube trays. Thanks for sharing.
Ice cube trays are very important. Sounds good Nise.
