Weekly Reading Recap/IMWAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

Our family had a great weekend as we celebrated the dedication of Cole (my grandson) at church this morning. He was so cute and even laughed as the Pastor was talking. This week will be busy with cleaning and cooking since I am hosting Thanksgiving. I am hoping to finish two of the audiobooks I've been listening to these last couple of weeks.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Change of Heart by Jude Deveraux
Two books in one. Jude expands upon her 1994 novella about kids Eli and Chelsea that team up to find a match for Eli's mom. They have been friends since grade school and have worked together to help people in need sometimes getting themselves in trouble. The first part of the story is the kids scheming to get Marian and Frank together. The second part is 20 years later. Eli and Chelsea have grown up and changed considerably. Eli has never forgotten Chelsea and invites her to visit his home in Eildean, Virgina. They overhear a conversation in a restaurant and it is the perfect situation for them to work together to help a local mom and her daughter with higher stakes. An entertaining story with great characters that I could not put down. Narrated by Gabra Zackman. I read and listened to this book.

Reunion by Hannah Pittard (audio)
Kate is returning home, not sure that is where she really wants to be when she learns that her father has just died by his own hand. She has not had a relationship with him in years, and is literally forced to home to Atlanta and be with her brother, sister and her father's family. Kate is an interesting character as at times you totally relate to her and others you absolutely hate her and want to smack her. Her family dysfunction is ugly, messy and at times familiar. I found myself rooting for Kate at the end! A wonderfully written, absorbing story that ends with hope. Narrated by the superb Julia Whelan.

The Job by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg
Someone has been stealing priceless items of art posting as Nick Fox. FBI Agent Kate knows it is not him because she is secretly working with him. Once they discover why this person is doing this they can concentrate on bringing down a notorious drug lord with an elaborate con. This third book in the series is full of fun, adventure, and a bit of suspense. Great dialogue between the characters with a little spark of chemistry. Can't wait to see what happens next for Kate and Nick.

Burn for Me Ilona Andrews
The first book in a new series by Ilona Andrews. Nevada Baylor is working hard to keep her family investigation business afloat. She is takes a case that is forced upon her or she will lose the business: capture and bring in a powerful family's son accused of setting a bank on fire and killing a family. Nevada finds herself in partnership with "Mad" Rogan, a equally powerful man who just may get her killed before they find Adam. Filled with Andrew's brilliant world building, action, adventure and hint of romance between these two characters this first book is a winner..

I absolutely loved Reunion! I thought the writing was humorous and spot on (I come from a somewhat similar situation)...was one of those books that I was sad to see end.

Cole is so handsome, and so big so soon, wow! Congrats on his ceremony.

Lucky for you that you have audiobooks, so you can still listen while you are cooking and cleaning. Have a wonderful family time on Thanksgiving.
