Weekly Reading ReCap/IMWAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

This last week of September has been absolutely beautiful. I celebrated my birthday (Friday) by sitting outside reading and enjoying a wonderful dinner with my family. We are expecting continued gorgeous weather.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Two parallel stories are told in short chapters over the course of three years. Young Marie-Laure is blind and  lives with her father in Paris. He works at the museum and built a model of the city for her to learn her way around. Each year he builds her a puzzle with a hidden surprise. Werner and his sister Jutta are orphans that live in Germany.  Werner has a gift for figuring things out and soon get s reputation for fixing things. He is gather up with the other boys and sent to a camp to become a good German fighter. Marie and her father have to leave Paris when the soldiers get close and flee to Saint-. How their lives eventually collide is beautifully told with emotion, tense situations and finally closure. Don't miss this book. I read and listened to this book.

Eyes On You By Kate White
Robin is glad to put her past behind her and move forward. She loves her job as co-host for a popular show and has just written a book. Things couldn't be better until things begin to happen that threaten her personally. The stalker is clever and soon things begin to get out of control.  Who has something against Robin and how far will they go? The tension and suspense is taught as the pages turn. I did have the culprit figured out, but was still entertained.

The Destiny of Violet and Luke by Jessica Sorensen (audio)
I have a love/hate relationship with books that end without a clear resolution (a cliffhanger).  This one's OMG moment was a bit unbelievable, but does have me wanting to read the next book.  Violet and Luke try to control their present in order to escape their messed-up pasts.  College is the perfect place to be but comes with it's own issues.  When they don't want to go home for the summer they decide to share an apartment. Things go well until they realize how their pasts intertwine.

Invisible by James Patterson & David Ellis (audio)
Emmy Dockery is convinced that there is a serial killer committing murders that leave no evidence and are ruled accidental.  One of the victim is her sister. She takes a leave from her FBI researcher job to investigate on her own. Once she has a tiny piece of proof, she enlists the help of a former boyfriend, FBI Agent Books. We get a peek into the mind of the killer in between chapters that was brilliantly narrated by Kevin T. Collins.  January LaVoy narrated the rest of the novel.

Happy belated birthday!

Not too sure about the first (not a fan of historical fiction), but the last 3 you read last week sound interesting!

Birthday greetings for Friday past. All birthdays should include good reading. Just closed the last page of SEP's Heroes book, I tried to read it slowly and relish every word - but .... I have now finished it!

I keep hearing great things about All the Light You Cannot See, but the blurb doesn't really grab me, so I've been putting it off. I absolutely loved Natchez Burning - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.
