Prologue
Monday, October 7
8:51am
Christy Shilling rolled over and squinted at her nightstand for the fifth time. Why hadn't her alarm clock gone off? She pushed the Kleenex and can of Icy Hot Spray out of the way. Still too early, but at least she could get up now. She hadn't slept more than two hours total, and it wasn't a good sleep. She'd had constant nightmares of waking up, going to her closet, and finding it wasn't there. The pain was still so real Christy was afraid to look at her closet door.
The Competition by Marcia Clark
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Just as she launched into her hand spring, the double doors behind the top row of bleachers flew open. At first, no one noticed the two figures who stool there, rifles in hand. (pg. 8)

Good teaser! I'd like to see your review of this one.
That intro pulled me in immediately. Great pick.
Good intro!
Great opening and Teaser. I'm wondering what's in the closet and definitely curious about the guys with rifles. Sounds like a book I'd enjoy.
My Teaser is from THE FRIENDSHIP STAR QUILT.
excellent! I'm completely drawn in to both intro and TT - EnJoy!
and HapPy Canada Day from your neighbour to the North!
Added my TT for today’s New Release MURDER AT THE MIKADO vintage 30′s mystery love!
I definitely want to read this one. I wonder what is in the closet? Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: THE FROM-AWAYS
I have this in my Kindle waiting to be read along with the author's other books. I really need to get to them. I've heard they are good.
I would keep reading this sounds like it might be a good thriller. Enjoy!
that is a very good beginning, I'd read on. I'm wondering if the author is Marcia Clark the lawyer of OJ Simpson fame.
I had no idea Marcia Clark wrote mysteries! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

Good choice; I just finished it last month and Ms. Clark writes an intelligent, suspenseful story. Enjoy!
By the way, she is also a nice person! My son knew I was reading her book, and unbeknownst to me, he went to her facebook page and asked her for advice for his law school career. She answered him right back in a paragraph, and at that time he had not mentioned that I read her books. When he did then leave another note about that, she also messaged me--again, a nice, accommodating person.
I'm intrigued by the teaser... rifles in high school?!
interesting teaser. I wish I could do hand springs :)
My teaser is here http://newhorizonreviews.blogspot.com/2014/07/teaser-tuesdays-is-weekly-bookish-meme.html
I would like to know what's going on there and what is unsettling Christy so much.

You've got me curious, why is she in such evident pain? The dialogue purpose driven; I would continue reading, but school shootings are just so close to home, gah!

Nice teaser. I have a different book by Clark on my review stack. My teasers are from Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh and Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne. Happy reading!
Oh, dear...that does not sound good or bode. Mine: The Sun Also Rises
In your comment on my blog post, you asked if the authors of The Friendship Star Quilt (Patricia Kiyono and Stephanie Michels) were from MI. Patricia answered: Yes, we're both from Grand Rapids!
Just thought you'd want to know.

I just got this book last week but I haven't even opened it up yet. I like how it begins. I really enjoyed her first book. I hope you enjoy this one too.
Not sure about the opener but the teaser got my attention. Here's mine
