Weekly Reading ReCap/IMWAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

Reading has taken a back seat to our newest arrival!  Our grandson was born 2 wks early on Thursday, June 12.  I've been spending time at my daughter's home helping out with the baby.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Undetected by Dee Hendersen
Dee has long been a favorite author of mine. I have liked her books since the O'Malley series ended. This was not only entertaining but educational. I enjoyed learning about submarines, sonar, as well as loving the setting of the book as my dad worked at this base. Gina and Mark's relationship slowly evolved as they worked together on her discoveries. Fast, paced with great action and characters.

The Target by David Baldacci
Will Robie and Jessica Reel are reluctantly called for a mission.  No one in government wants them, but know they are the best at doing what needs to be done.  Meanwhile, Jessica gets a call that reveals her background.  After Will and Jessica complete their mission, the First Family is targeted by an unknown assassin.  Fast paced, high octane action brilliantly narrated by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy.  I hope there will be more Will and Jessica books.
*Thanks to Mitch and Hachette Audio for this review copy*

The Summer Girls by Mary Alice Monroe
Carson, Dora and Harper are invited by their mamaw to return to Sullivan Island, NC and reconnect with each other over the summer.  They have been separated by distance, circumstances and time. Each has issues to deal with and hope the return will help. Sisters, secrets, forgiveness and reconciliation make this first book in the Low Country Summer Trilogy enjoyable.

Listening to:
Three Weeks With Lady X by Eloisa James (Susan Duerden)
The Tailgate by Elin Hilderbrand (Erin Bennett)
Vanished by Joseph Finder (Holter Graham)

Reading:
Jaguar Hunt by Terry Spear
Written In My Heart's Own Blood by Diana Gabaldon

Up Next:
Until You're Mine by Samantha Hayes

I am a fan of Baldacci and Hilderbrand. I have planned for awhile to pick up a Samantha Hayes, as recommended by Marce @ Tea Time. Have a good week, you certainly have some fun books there.

I have not read a book by Dee Henderson, though on my radar. Must try one sometime. I am holding off on the DG until I read a few review books, but not sure how long that good will, will last!

The Summer Girls sounds like my type of read and I'm trying to get through An Echo in the Bone so I can move on to Written In My Own Heart's Blood. Have a wonderful week and enjoy that special grandma time with Cole.
