Weekly Reading ReCap/IMAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

May finally brought the warm weather we have all been waiting for anxiously. It was a busy two weeks with 6 graduation open houses. June is finally here!  We are counting down the days to the arrival of our first grandchild.  We are so excited!

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

The Rebel Pirate by Donna Thorland
Master and Commander James Sparhawk is tasked with confiscating cargo from a ship suspected of carrying illegal contraband. The job is easily completed until he gets ready to disperse the ship's crew.  One of the crew members protects a young boy and draws Sparhawk's attention. He discovers he is a she. Sarah Ward was born on a ship and quickly turns the tables on James by taking him hostage.  From there the action, adventure and intrigue never stops as the country is on the verge of war in 1775, and loyalties are put to the test.  An excellent, entertaining read.

Live To See Tomorrow by Iris Johansen
CIA operative Catherine Ling is glad to be traveling with her son to Hong Kong for a vacation.  She is looking forward to seeing her good friend Hu Chang.  As she is traveling, she gets a call from her boss.  He has a quick job for her to do and  at first she refuses the job, but ends up going.  as always Catherine is a strong, smart and never stops. We meet a new character and I look forward to finding out how he fits into the picture.

Concealed in Death by J.D.Robb
Roark is on site of his new project, a building renovation.  As the walls are being demolished, two bodies are found and Eve is called in to investigate.  As the demolition continues 10 more bodies are found. Another good investigative novel.  Not one of my favorites, but a good read.

Fifth Avenue Trilogy -
Three friends come together to seek justice/revenge against one man. More thoughts here + a giveaway.

Silenced by Dani Pettry
Love this series about the McKenna family. Mystery/Suspense without the explicit details of the crimes. More thoughts here.

Book Thoughts Posted:
The Troublemaker Next Door by Marie Harte
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

Up Next:
Undetected by Dee Henderson
Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews
Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
Evening Stars by Susan Mallery

I have a couple of giveaways going on here and here that are ending soon.

I haven't read an Iris Johansen book in years but I used to read them all the time.

Glad you weather has warmed. Grandchildren are a delight!

I have a dozen or so of Iris Johansen's in my collections. I really need to read some of them.

Silenced sounds good - I will check out this author.

I like Dee Henderson too.

Very few books here familiar to me Nise. I am a long way away from Concealed in Death, I think about number 12! How wonderful when you have a new grandchild, very exciting and awe filled time.

We are too!! 20 days to go but could be any day now for both our grandchildren :)

Must check out your review of Code Name Verity, it's still waiting patiently for me. That Kate Hewitt trilogy sounds similarly themed to the movie The Other Woman, which I really enjoyed.

Have a wonderful week & happy reading!

Congrats of the coming of the grandchild! Don't have any of my own (don't even have children yet) but my granddad thinks we're a lot of fun! Slightly transfixed by the 'Avenge Me' cover, that man knows how to wear a suit! But I think 'The Rebel Pirate' is my favourite! Haven't read a pirate novel in ages! I hope you enjoy your reading!

You've had another nice reading week, Nise'. I met Maisie Yates at BEA and came away with signed copies of the prequel and first book in the Fifth Avenue trilogy. They are now at the top of my reading pile.
