Tuesday Intro/Teaser

First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros is a weekly meme hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea every Tuesday. To participate share the opening paragraph or two of a book you've decided to read based on that paragraph. Please feel free to join in, First Chapter~First Paragraph~Tuesday Intros.

Los Angeles
Carson was sorting through the usual boring bills and circulars in the mail when her fingers paused at the thick ecru envelope with Miss Carson Muir written in a familiar blue script. She clutched the envelope tight and her heart pumped fast as she scurried up the hot cement steps back to her apartment. The air-conditioning was broken, so only scarce puffs of breeze that carried noise and dirt from the traffic wafted through the open windows. It was a tiny apartment in a two-story stucco building near L.A., but it was close to the ocean and the rent was affordable, so Carson had stayed for three years, longer than she ever lived in any other apartment.

The Summer Girls by Mary Alice Monroe

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of  Should Be Reading.

Carson picked up the invitation again, kissed it, then put her hands on the keys and began typing. She would accept Mamaw's invitation. She was going back to the lowcountry - to Mamaw.

Wow, Blogger is slow today! LOL...took forever for this comment box to appear....

Love Mary Alice Monroe's books...and you had me at "close to the beach."

Who hasn't put up with tiny spaces in order to be near the beach? I can't wait to read this one.

Here's mine: “DON’T TRY TO FIND ME”

Sounds interesting. I wonder what she'll find when she goes back home. This week my teasers come from The Quick by Lauren Owen and Dark Metropolis by Jaclyn Dolamore. I go from Victorian Vampires to futuristic zombies. Happy reading!

I love books that take place in the low country (for example, Pat Conroy) so this is a book I'd enjoy. I'm also intrigued by the relationships between granddaughters and their grandmas. Sounds like a good one.
My Teaser is from LEAN ON ME.
