What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

First Monday in March! In my neck of the woods, we are feeling like spring will never come. February roared out with frigid temps, March arrived with more snow and thankfully, some sunshine!

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

The Kept by James Scott
In 1897 Upstate New York Elspeth is on her way home from her job as a midwife. As she arrives home she finds that her family has been killed.  Her 12 year old son Caleb is the only survivor and accidently shoot his mother.  They set out on a journey of revenge that reveals Elspeth's secrets and lies that ends with an open conclusion to the book that readers will either like or hate.

The Chase by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

Action packed, fun book! Really like the characters and look forward to future books in this series.

The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn
Sarah is appalled when asked by her cousin to Hugh for the weekend. She has disliked him for the last four years due to the scandel he brought upon her family by dueling with her cousin and ruining her first season. Hugh feels Sarah is too selfish and dramatic. However, they are determined to get along so Honoria's wedding is a everything she wished for. Of course, as they get to know each other, they learn how mistaken they have been. Lots of humor. A satisfying regency.

Requiem by Jamie McGuire
Nina and Jared are on a mission to find a missing book and return it to save their lives.  Nina is suffering nightmares that are causing her some health problems.  They race to find this book with help from their friends. This second book in the Providence series is fast-paced and full of action. The final showdown is coming in the third book Eden.

Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott
Seventeen year old Emma's mother has died, but she visits her mother every day in the hospital.  The reason for this has caused her to totally give up on school and navigate through extreme anger. Only Caleb understands. He is the last person Emma would ever consider a friend.  An emotional, thought provoking novel.

The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle
Wren has always been on the straight and narrow path to success. Everything that she and her parents have planned for. Shortly before graduation she changes everything and decides to pursue what she really wants and that includes troubled Charlie Parker. A bit over the top, and too much drama for me.

Up From The Grave by Jeanine Frost
It is always exciting when a book comes out in a favorite series, but this one is bittersweet as it is the final book. I had the book for 3 weeks before I anxiously picked it up. WOW, what a fantastic ending to this wonderful series. It was action packed, non-stop twists and turns with a couple of breath stealing moments! I will truly miss Cat and Bones, and hope they make appearances in future books. If you have not read this series, do yourself a favor and do so!!

Up Next:
Desperately Seeking Suzanna by Elizabeth Michels
The Last Days of California by Mary Miller
Do or Die by Suzanne Brockman

I have never read the Frost series, which is weird since it looks right up my alley. I will have to read it.

The Kept sounds really good too!

Have a great week!

Ughh what is going on with your weather? Hope you've seen the last of the snow!

I've put off reading book 6 of Cat & Bones knowing it's all at an end soon and I don't want to say goodbye but I'm excited to hear the final book was a good one.

Have a great week and happy reading :)

I'm not sure you could have written a comment that would make me want to read The Kept more.

Hope you're having a good reading week!
