Digging out of lake effect snow that has been hanging on for days now. Got a good chunk of Christmas shopping done. Ten days 'til Christmas!
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Sever by Lauren DeStefano
Time is running out for Rhine and friends. This virus kills girls at age 20 and boys at age 25. Vaughn is trying to find a cure but the consequences are too costly, and Rhine just wants to get away from him. They find refuge with Vaughn's brother Reed and search out the truth. FINALLY, a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy.
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Not even sure what to say. I totally understood Tris's decision, it was so her, but didn't like it at all. Tobias was a hot mess and not the guy we fell in love with in the first 2 books, but I also understood as I thought about one of the major themes of the book. The explanations of how this world came to be were so involved and bordered on boring with their twistiness. I closed the book with mixed feelings.
Take Over At Midnight by M.L. Buchman
An Action filled, exciting mission oriented book. Like that characters from the previous 3 books featured prominently.
Douglas, Lord of Heartache by Grace Burrowes
Douglas has experienced heartbreak upon heartbreak within his family. Gwen has been betrayed and just wants to be left alone. These two have a hard road to their happy ending. Another enjoyable book in the Lonely Lord series.
The Marquis Who Loved Me by Sara Ramsey
Ellie was forced to break her engagement with Nick and marry his cousin. Ten years have passed, Ellie is a widow, Nick is back to learn who is trying to kill him and has revenge in mind for Ellie. These two tortured hearts may not survive the reunion. I loved how they lit up the pages with their broken hearts and passion. The third book in the Muses of Mayfair (stands alone well). Looking forward to Prudence's story.
Thank you to Sara Ramsey and Netgalley for this review copyUp Next:
Welcome Back to Apple Grove by C.H. Admirand
Never Look Back by Lee Child

The Coldest Girl in Cold Town by Holly Black (Christine Lakin)

I need to read Allegiant yet! AND did you really have to say that we are 10 days to Christmas? GAH! SO much to do :)
I have only read Wither but am glad the trilogy ends well. I also have Allegiant on my stack. I have to read Insurgent before I get to it though. The very mixed reviews have made me hesitant. Come check out my Monday Report if you get a chance. Happy reading and happy holidays!
I've got Allegiant to read still, too. I really didn't like Wither at all so I didn't bother with the other two books, but I'm glad you were satisfied by the ending. You got a lot of reading done!
I bought Allegiant and then returned it when I saw all the negative reviews. I'm glad you liked Sever. I liked the first book but just didn't pick up the sequel. Maybe someday.
You pretty well sum up for me how I felt about Allegiant. I notice my students didn't object to it, although one said "It was so sad". I read somewhere else not to expect happy endings from Dystopian.
:(
I really need to read both DeStefano and Roth. I can't believe I haven't read either of them.
Hasn't all this snow been fun? Not! I actually like a little snow for Christmas, but maybe not quite this much. :) And I can't believe how fast Christmas is approaching.
Have a good week!
I'm with you on Allegiant but I'm glad to hear Sever was a good finish, I'm over trilogies with a disappointing end.
Have a great week preparing for Christmas and happy reading :)
Nice list!
Divergent and Sever! I've yet to read either, but heard great things about them. Enjoy!
Take a look at what I'm reading this week.
I still haven't done any Christmas shopping!
Have a terrific week,

I am looking forward to your review of Coldest Girl! I have heard so many mixed opinions. I really liked it, but I know not everyone did.
Sorry about all the snow! :)
Another fantastic reading week for you!
Oh, I enjoyed the first two Muses of Mayfair reads...this one looks lush.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I still need to get to both Sever and Allegiant! I've been afraid to because I was dreading the evil "end of series cop out". I'm at least happy to hear you liked Sever :).
Happy reading week!

I'm glad you found Sever to be a satisfying conclusion to the series. It's so frustrating when the last book is a dud.
Have a wonderful week!
I love that I can always count on you for some great romance recommendations :)
