What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

It has been quiet here on the blog as I've been helping my friend empty her mom's house. Needless to say, it has been an emotional roller coaster ride for her so I've been doing much of the work.

Killer Ambition by Marcia Clark

Picked up this book even though it was part of a series and had no problem with the characters and their back stories. A teenage girl is kidnapped and her famous father does all he can to get her back. When she does not return the police is called in to investigate. Special Trials prosecutor Rachel Knight and Detective Bailey Keller quickly figure out this is more than a kidnapping gone wrong. Great investigative and courtroom procedure novel. I will definitely read more of this series.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
I was pleasantly surprised as how much I enjoyed this novel. A high school fellow book reader recommended it to me. Echo suffered a tragically at the hands of her mother, but has a memory lapse and is working on making it through her senior year. Noah, is in foster care and working towards getting his brothers back when he graduates and turns 18. They meet when Echo is asked to tutor Noah.  The reasons to be together are mostly negative, but somehow they work it out. A enjoyable debut.

HotShot by Julie Garwood
When he was 14 FBI Agent Finn rescued his neighbor, 6 year old Peyton from her swimming pool.  Years later Peyton returns home for a wedding after leaving her dream job as a food critic, and runs into Finn. She and her sisters are given a resort in Florida to run for a year in order to inherit. The reason that Peyton left her jobs comes back to her and she has to call Finn for help. He saved her life once, can he do it again?

Kiss Me Annabel by Eloisa James (audio)

Essex sister number two. Annabel did not want to ever go back to Scotland or marry a penniless gentlemen. A cruel twist has her doing just that very thing. I loved Annabel and Ewan's story as they journey to his home in Scotland. It was funny, tender and charming. Sisters Imogene and Josie are a riot and I look forward to their stories. Expertly narrated by Susan Duerden.
Thank you to HarperAudio for this audiobook

I wish I could get Eloisa James on audio here in NZ but her books don't seem to have world rights at Audible. :(

Lots of interesting stuff there Nise. I did a spur of the moment book off the shelf pick yesterday and read the book from start to finish - yes, it was good LOL (The Homecoming Party, C. Abate)

You are indeed a good friend, that has got to be one of the most difficult tasks I've ever had to do. In spite of all that you did well with your reading.
