What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Vicki at I'd Rather Be At The Beach  is hosting this week.

Wasnt' it just yesterday that we all said we couldn't believe it was October?  Here it is November already.  WOW.  My reading for the year is a bit behind my goal, but it was a busy year, and I am okay with where I am on the goals.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Justice For Sara by Erica Spindler
Ten years after a jury found her innocent of her sister's murder, Kat McCall returns home to find out what really happened to her sister. A warm welcome is not expected nor received. The towns people think she got away with murder and the killer still is in town and wants to stop her investigation. The acting Police Chief is willing to help. A page turner that I figured out, but was surprised by the twist.
The Truth About You by Susan Lewis

Lainey has planned a trio to Italy to learn about her family's past, namely who her father is and if that contributed to the relationship issues she had with her mother. Meanwhile, her busy family begins to fall apart. I liked the premise of the novel and was very engaged until about half way through and began to lose interest as the same things kept happening over and over. It did pick up near the end as the family finally came together and talked! Some eye rolling parts and some very tender, emotional parts.

Fortunately the Milk by Neil Gaiman
I will read anything with Neil's name on it. This is a children's book about a father who goes to the store to buy milk and when he comes home tells his two children the tale of his trip to the corner store. Wonderfully illustrated by Skottie Young

The Yonahlossee  Riding Camp for Girls by Anton Disclafani (audio)
Fifteen year old Thea Atwell is sent to an equestrienne boarding school for Southern debutantes in North Carolina after her role in a family tragedy. The reason for her being sent away unfolds slowly as she adjusts to being sent away.  Thea is not easy to like, but as the story unfolds she does redeem herself a little bit. A debut that was narrated very well by Adina Verson.

Much Ado About You by Eloisa James (audio)
Tess and her three sisters are sent (penniless) to England to their guardian's home after their father's death. Each of them knows they must make a good marriage.  I loved the interaction between the sisters.  We get to know the three oldest well even though this is Tess's story. Expertly narrated by Susan Duerden.
Thank you for HarperAudio for this audio listen.

How to Handle A Highlander by Mary Wine
The Sutherlands and Frazers are back and the feud needs to be settles.  Of course, it won't be easy!  Love Highlanders.

Up Next:
The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag
Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Jill Mansell
Spirit of Steamboat by Craig Johnson

I haven't had much luck with Gaiman's adult novels so far, but I loved Coraline - I've never heard of Unfortunately the Milk but I'd love to read it, his children's stuff is great!

A great mix. I haven't heard of this Neilman G.

I am more than a little behind in reading goals this year but what a hard year, I have came to realize I love blogging and want to continue, specifically as a book blog, so that is good.

Great reading Nise. I must read some more of Eloisa James, I was just recently reading up about her. Have read a few of them, although historicals are not my first go to choice.
