Last week's reading was a bit slower than normal. Work was busier than usual, hopefully things even out this week. Fall weather has finally arrived and the weather man is suggesting the "S" word for this week.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Her Last Breath by Linda Castillo
An Amish family is a victim of a hit and run (truck vs buggy). The victim's mom is well known to Chief Kate Burkholder. As the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that it is more than an accident. Kate and John Tomasetti's relationship moves forward with a secret from her past that threatens her career. Another good installment in this series. I would have liked the killer's reasons fleshed out more, it was given too quick.
Lady Jenny's Christmas Portrait by Grace Burrowes
The last Windham to get a HEA. While I enjoyed catching up with the rest of the family and liked Jenny and Ethan's passion for their art the rest of the story was just so-so for me.
Morgan and Archer by Grace Burrowes
A Windham series novella that brings together two secondary characters from previous novels. They work together to solve a plot against the Crown. A fun read.
The King by Steven James
FBI Agent Patrick Bowers Patrick, his fiancée, Lien-hua and step-daughter, Tessa are planning the wedding when a killer out for revenge threatens them. Patrick once again finds himself in a race to catch a killer. A smart, thriller with great characters that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Up Next:
Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford
Gareth by Grace Burrowes
Six Years by Harlan Coben

Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster

The weather man is mentioning snow here too though it is just supposed to be snow mixed with rain. I hate that most of the week is going to be cold though. I guess it was inevitable...
I will have to take a look at that Grace Burrowes series. I am looking for new romance authors to try. I've been interested in reading the Kate Burkholder books too. She isn't as popular with my Amish fiction reading patrons as Beverly Lewis or Wanda Brunstetter but I think suspense would be more my kind of Amish fiction!
The King sounds exciting...hope you have a great week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
A NEW Castillo book I haven't read!! I just love those books. Gonna find it at my library the next trip :)
Have a great week!! It's Monday! What Are You Reading @ the Brunette Librarian
I do so like the mix of reads! enjoy.
Her Last Breath sounds particularly interesting as does The King.
I'm enjoying Lady Jenny's story so far.
Have a great week and I hope it doesn't snow this soon on you.:-)
Snow! Wow! Time for a fire and a good book. It looks to me like you did get quite a bit of reading done. I like historical fiction - but not too much. I let the Grace Burrowes books go, as have so much else to read. Hope work is quieter for you this coming week.
I'm still trying to get to Six Years, hopefully before the end of the year but who knows, I seem to be reading at snail's pace again.
We're experiencing early heatwave conditions and the bushfires are shocking ... praying for rain here.
Have a great week and happy reading :)
The weather is crazy! We are fighting bush fires in a heat wave and it's only Spring!
Have a great reading week!

We enjoyed some cooler weather this weekend. It stayed in the 70's all day yesterday and that was lovely!
Here's my It's Monday!
I drove through snow and rain yesterday but none is predicted here this week. Just cold, cold, cold! I read the first book in that series by Castillo but haven't had a chance to read any more. Come see my Monday Report here. Happy reading!
We had frost this morning and the cooler weather is finally here - which I love. Not quite ready for winter, but am loving the 50 and 60 degree days.
Hope you have a great week!

I can't wait to see what you think of Songs of Willow Frost. I really enjoyed it.
I never read any of these books but I hope you enjoy them all! Great post!
My Monday’s list!
I heard Six Years by Coben was good. Thinking about that one... not ready for the "s" word yet. They say an early and cold winter, but I hope they're wrong. :)
The books look amazing, Happy Reading!!
