My back is still not 100% (thank you for all your kind words) so I spend more time resting it and reading. We are having wonderful weather, it is more like August than September so much of my reading is still outside!
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
The Guilty One by Lisa Ballantyne
Daniel Hunter has spent years defending lost causes as a solicitor in London. But his life changes when he is introduced to Sebastian, an eleven-year-old accused of murdering an innocent young boy. WOW, what an amazing debut novel. The crime is unthinkable and had me going back and forth as to guilt or innocence. Daniel's story is told interspersed with Sebastian's, and it is just as compelling.
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet By Darynda Jones
Charley is suffering from PTSD after the last case, and has been kicked out of her office space by her Father. After an intervention by her family, she is ready to take back her life. She takes a case while discovering more about Reyes and how she is connected. Another great installment in this series.
One Heart To Win by Johanna Lindsay
Some young ladies marry for money and social standing, a few lucky ones marry for love—but Tiffany Warren is marrying to end a feud. This is the author's 50th book and celebrates her roots in historical fiction. A quick, satisfying read.
First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost
This is a spin-off book from the Cat and Bones series. Denise has lost too much in her best friend Cat's world and wants nothing more to do with it. She is drawn back in due to family secrets and relies on Spade to help her. I liked Spade and Denise's chemistry right away. A few characters from the NH series make an appearance.
Reading:
This Side of The Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Listening to:
Last Original Wife by Dorothea Benton Frank
Don't Go by Lisa Scottoline
The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout
Up Next:
The King by Steven James
Stranded by Dani Pettrey
Book Thoughts Posted:
The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes
To Wed A Wicked Highlander by Victoria Roberts

I hope your back heals quickly. I am glad that the weather is good at least. Here it is still like summer but not too hot. I will be sad when sweater weather arrives!
I hope to start the Charley Davidson series this year. It sounds like a lot of fun.
Hope your back is better soon. I must admit I enjoy a Johanna Lindsay book from time to time. The Darynda Jones series sounds interesting, must look it up.

Oh so sorry about your back:( I recall how painful that can be from a few years ago when I hurt mine. Take care and enjoy your books.
I hope your back will continue to improve - it's so restricting in everything when the back isn't working properly :(
I need to start that series by Darynda Jones! And I love Jeaniene Frost, the spin-offs are just as good as the main series in my opinion.
Here's my It's Monday! post if you want to stop by :) Happy reading.
I hope your back improves this week :-(

I fell last week o am dealing with a little back pain too. I don't think mine was as bad as yours. A least we have our books to keep us company while we recoup.

Ouch! Take care of yourself. I bet you're loving The Last Original Wife.
I like how you have the boxes around comments about the book. Very nice!
