What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

The home remodeling is coming along, we are near the home stretch!  I am glad that I am managing to get some reading done.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Wild For You by Sophia Knightly

Book One in the Tropical Heat series. This was a Kindle freebie a few months ago. Marisol Calderon is being stalked. Is it her ex or someone else? Her brother Dr. Marcos hires his good friend, Det. Clay Blackthorne to secretly watch over her. That does not last too long, and as the stalking becomes more threatening, they decide to marry as a means to protect her. An easy, predictable read.

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet is sure that her Grandmother has been kidnapped, but the local authorities have not found any evidence to support the claim. She sets out to find her all by herself with the help of Wolf, a strangely strong street fighter with possible devious intentions. Meanwhile, Cinder (from book one) has escaped prison to escape Queen Levana's clutches. She finds herself on an adventure with a fellow escapee. Scarlet and Cinder finally meet up and the action ramps up.  A delightful second installment in this series.  I love both these women and look forward to the next installment.

Far in the Wilds by Deanna Raybourn

Ryan White is introduced to us in this prequel to A Spear of Grass.  Told in Ryan's POV, we learn how much he loves Africa and wants nothing more than to enjoy it his own way.  Due to circumstances out of his control he takes a Danish Prince on an expedition.  An entertaining novella, that has me looking forward A Spear of Grass.

Borrowed Scarlet from the library and started reading it. Good, but I prefer the first in the series, Cinder.

The Lavender Garden sounds good too. I am waiting for own lavender to grow, right now it is still tiny!
