Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Between home renovations, I managed to get some reading accomplished last week!
The Best of Us by Sarah Pekkanen
Following a once-in-a-lifetime invitation, a group of old college friends leap at the chance to bring their husbands for a week’s vacation at a private villa in Jamaica to celebrate a former classmates' thirty-fifth birthday.I have loved every book previous to this release. This book was well written, easy to read and fun to imagine. Unfortunately this one did not do it for me as I did not like or relate to any of the characters.
The Round House by Louise Erdrich
Joe's family lives on a reservation with his family. It is 1988 and he is 13 years old. His mother is savagely attacked and refuses to tell what happened. Joe sets out with his friends to investigate. A wonderfully written coming of age novel that speaks to the conflict between tribal/reservation justice vs the local justice.
The Inn At Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber
After her husband's death, Jo Marie buys a Bed and Breakfast in Cedar Cove. This is book one in a new series. Jo's first guests Joshua and Abby are both dreading their return to Cedar Cove. Each has to face a past of hurts, but hoping to make amends, heal and move on with their lives. A great start in this new series.

Thanks for stopping by! I am just beginning The Firebird also- it's going to be good!
I hope to read that Macomber book...and The Best of Us.
Enjoy your week....and thanks for visiting my blog.
I finished the Round House this past week too and I read The Firebird which I absolutely loved. Scarlet was also really good.
I want to read Jack Absolute. It sounds like a fun adventure book.
Hope you enjoy Scarlet as much as I did and I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The Firebird, it's on my TBR stack. The Best Of US didn't do it for me either but I like her writing style. Have a great week and happy reading :)
Happy reading this week:D
I have heard great things about the Round House. The Debbie Macomber sounds good too, I will have to check it out! Have a great week!
I wasn't all that keen on the Best of Us either
Wishing you a fabulous reading week

I enjoyed The Round House so much. I'd really like to check out her other books.
I hope you have a great week!
I read a book by Erdrich several years ago. I've heard nothing but good things about The Round House, so perhaps it's time to pick up another one of her books!
I've read a few reviews of The Best of Us where people really didn't like it. I didn't connect with the characters either but I still really enjoy the book. I listened to it though and I wonder if that made the difference.
I tried listing to The Round House a while back and didn't like it. I'll have to try it again one of these days.
Funny--my post today is about how I am connecting with the characters in my current book! I so get what you mean--no connection, no enjoyment.
Debbie Macomber's book sounds good!
*smiles*
I have The Best of Us somewhere in the piles of books around here too. Happy reading this week!
I glad to hear good things about the Debbie MaComber book; I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm currently reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Forever in Blue by Ann Brashares.
I am so late today. Mr Dollycas's plans changed and he was underfoot all day!
I am glad you got some reading done and the great books too!!
Sorry you didn't love The Best of Us. I need to make the time to read The Round House. While I was at BEA last week, a group of us were chatting about reviews and it came out that lots of us love yours!
I didn't care for The Best of Us either! I'm tossing around The Round House but the last few books of hers that I've read I really had a hard time staying with them.
I love Debbie Macomber's books. I need to get caught up with them. Have a great week!
The Round House has received lots of positive attention, I am still on the fence.
I read the first two books you mention. Have a super week :)
Debbie Macomber is a wonderful writer. I haven't read this particular one by her but I hope you thoroughly enjoyed it.

I probably need to try Debbie Macomber again!
