What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

I am not sure where Spring is as it has been dragging its feet getting here.  Yesterday morning we had big fat snow flakes but by late afternoon is was 50.  The rainy, cold weather increased my reading last week!

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster

Mean girl gets a do over! A fast, fun, and hilarious book about Lissy Ryder, who wonders what everyones problem is after attending her high school reunion. She finds out exactly why everyone reacts the way they do!   Would you like a high school do-over?

Thrill Ride by Julie Ann Walker

Each book in the Black Knight, Inc. has me totally addicted to this series. Non-stop, suspenseful action all while a romance is brewing! I liked it that many of characters from previous books made appearances. It bugs me when they disappear from future books. This installment tickled my funny bone and I could not turn the pages fast enough. Can't wait for the next book.

Darius by Grace Burrowes

I loved the humor, emotion, and redemption of this book. I was riveted to the pages wondering how their HEA would come about.Looking forward to book two in the Lonely Lords series.

Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys

Josie's has lived above the bookstore that she now works at since she was twelve .  Her mother lives at the local brothel.  Josie wants nothing more than to escape the French Quarter and leave her past behind.  She feels a bit guilty about it as she has many people that have cared for and watched out for her: the brothel's madam, her driver, the bookstore owner, and his son. Will her smarts get her out of the easy or will her past as well as her mother's bad decisions keep there?  A wonderful, emotional read.

Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool

After his mom dies and dad returns home from the war, Jack is enrolled in a boy's boarding school in Maine to be close to where his dad is stationed.  He grew up in Kansas and find himself adrift in his grief.  He meets Early and discovers his strangeness is more than it seems.  Early sets out on a journey and Jack tags along. What they experience is heartwarming, heartbreaking and makes for a great story.

All of your books sound good to me. I like Walker and Burrowes but can't fit them all in. I'm not familiar with the other three but they sound good too.
Sorry you are still getting snow.
Here's to another good week for you!

I've heard good things about Out of the Easy and the Jen Lancaster book looks like fun. I wouldn't want to redo high school though! I'm glad the teen years are over though I wouldn't mind being in my 20s again :)

I'm ready for summer. We've had a weird spring with days in the 40s and days in the 70s...

Glad you enjoyed Out of the Easy, it's on my TBR stacks. Love the cover of Navigating Early, haven't heard of it til now but it sounds good too.

I enjoyed reading your little reviews about each book, it was nice because I'm not familiar with any of them, but you have peeked my interest with one or two of them.

Ugh, so sorry about the snow. I think of the line from the musical Camelot that snow should "exit March the 2nd, on the spot." Fortunately, we haven't had any in April this year in the Boston area.

I have Out of the Easy and just need to find the time to get to it. Glad you liked it!

I would not want to do highschool over again, once was enough. Out of the Easy sounds good, as does Navigating Early. Hope you enjoy the Burning Air as much as I did. Have a great week Nise, do stop by for some banana bread.

Navigating Early sounds good!!

I love Jen Lancaster, I will have to read this one. If I had a high school do-over, I would try to be a little more outgoing. I was so quiet and shy!

I loved Out of the Easy!!

Hi Nise,

I sure wouldn't want a high school do-over. Those years were among my most difficult! I'm glad they're long-gone.

It sounds like you had a fabulous week of reading. Do Over sounds interesting though I would never personally want to revisit high school LOL!

Fantastic short reviews that had me wanting to read each one you posted about!

No, I would not like a high school do-over! Somehow I remained unscathed the first time and wouldn't want to risk it twice. I do want to try Jen Lancaster though.
