On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born to an English banker and his wife. She dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in a variety of ways, while the young century marches on towards its second cataclysmic world war.
Does Ursula's apparently infinite number of lives give her the power to save the world from its inevitable destiny? And if she can --will she?
This is a clever, addictive and brilliantly written book. It takes a couple of chapters to get the flow and feel of the book, but once I figured it out, I could not put it down and stayed up way too late a couple of nights to get through this chunkster. Ursula is a great character, easy to like and root for, and just when you think things can't get worse, they change. The many other characters are just as interesting. Totally loved the way the author ended this book. Well worth investing the time in this tome.

That sounds really really weird..and good
Definitely sounds like one that would keep me up past my bedtime, too!
The fact that you called it a Tome is scary. I love this author though. I'm well into Burning Air.... and all I can say is ooooo
I've heard some good things about this book. I haven't read this author yet so maybe I should give it a try. Glad you enjoyed it.
I liked it for it's originality but it required more than the usual concentration.
I'm almost done with this book. It took me a little while to get into it too, but now I'm hooked!
Another glowing review, I've heard nothing but good about this one. I've purchased it but I'm finding chunksters daunting at the moment ... hopefully soon!
Have you read her other ones...can I read this one without starting at the beginning?
I definitely want to read this one!
