Welcome to Under the Boardwalk. My name is Nise' (kneecee) and I am addicted to reading.
My love of reading grew when I was home sick for six weeks in the 9th grade. While I was excited to get back to school, I missed those days of reading all day long! It is still one of my favorite things to do today! Since then, I have always made time to read whether I was working full time or a busy mom with three kids. These days as an empty nester and working part time, I have more freedom to read and I take FULL advantage of that time.
I have been blogging for 5 years. I set up a profile in order to comment on other blogs, since I felt creepy being “anonymous” all the time. It then became a way to keep track of what I was reading and has morphed into what it is today. It has been such fun sharing my reading with other book lovers all over the world.
My reading tastes have been challenged and stretched since blogging. I have tried and have come to love genres that I would never have given a second look at if not for recommendations from fellow bloggers. I have plans to continue to keep a record of my reading on my blog for years. It has been fun to be a part of the book blogging community from the early days and watch it grow and change.
Even though this blog is all about books, I do share a bit of my personal life from time to time. You can find a few personal posts here.
I am currently reading Abdication by Juliet Nicolson. I am listening to Catch Me by Lisa Gardner, Defending Jacob by William Landay and Love in a Nutshell by Evanovich and Kelly.
So far this year I have a few books that will be on my favorite reads of 2012: A Grown Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson, The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach, The Violets of March by Sarah Jio and Young Adult Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
Be sure to stop by tomorrow as I will be hosting book giveaway.

HI
I'm looking forward to being an empty nester so I can read more - though my youngest is just six so it will be a while!
Have a great Armchair BEA

Hello! I have a copy of Abdication and haven't decided whether or not to read it yet. I hope you enjoy it!
wow another long time blogger. Nice to meet you. Cinder is a great twist on the story.
Hi Nise...this is my first time participating in Armchair BEA and it's so fun visiting everyone.
I love reading your blog and all your reviews. I started blogging just to share my thoughts on the books I've read, never realizing I would end up belonging to such a great community and meet such great people!
Are you enjoying Catch Me? I read that one and have enjoyed the series.
Here's my Armchair BEA Intro Post.
Anyobody who has pictures of Eeyore on their blog is okay by me. Hope you have a great week!
An empty nester? I'm scared of and look forward to those days, both. I do hope when it comes I can read uninterrupted for hours on end. I guess we'll see, huh? Happy ABEA to you!
Loved getting to know you a bit better!
Nice to know I was saying your name correctly.
You are reading some great books right now, at least I hope so, they are on my Wishlist.
I also wanted to have a name not just leave Marce within the comments, lol
Hey Nise,
Stopping by to say Hi. I'm not participating in the Armchair BEA, but reading all of the posts has been fun. It's always great learning a bit more about fellow book bloggers.
Hi Nise'
Great intro post.
I think we're all going to have a great time this week.
Glad you checked out the altered books link. They're a lot of fun to make <3
My sister said that Cinder is an amazing book, too :)
Oh I remember those days of reading all day with no worries. You brought back a lot of memories I have. First time participating and so glad I found it!!
Haven't read Cinder yet, but it sure has been on my tbr list for a really long time now! Nice meeting you, Nise!
First, Happy Bloggiversary to you, too! Fun that we share the day. Anna from Eccentric Diary is a day before us.
Second, I had no idea your name was prounced kneecee. So pretty! I always just assumed neece. Glad to know. ;)
I cracked up at your opening to this post, "Mt name is Nise' and I'm addicted to books". That's a great opening!!
Your experience being home sick and reading to stave off boredom is similar to how I read when I was in the hospital and then at home recovering from surgery for a couple of months each year.
Being able to read all day and have no real respnsibilities distracting me was great...I'm sure you felt the same way.
I've heard parents talk about how difficult it can be when your children grow up and leave the nest.. That it's a big adjustment. I hope being an avid reader was helpful to you when you first became an 'empty nester'. You have morre time to read now, anyway!
I didn't realize (or remember!) you've been blogging 5 years! That's great!
I love your list of 2012 favorites so far. I haven't read any of those books yet but they're on my tbr list.
Enjoy your Armchair BEA week, Nise'!
Nice to meet you, Nise! I feel like we've met somewhere before - I never forget a blog.
I've actually read 2 of your favorites this year two and really liked them both. Which reminds me that I need to give away the audio book of Cinder. Rats! Should have done that yesterday.
Aww Nise! It's always nice to catch up with an old friend! Very nice to meet you again, and I agree, my reading choices have definitely expanded since blogging.
I'm a little late making the rounds here. It's great that so many people are participating in ArmchairBEA.
The Art of Fielding will definitely make my best of list this year too.
Hi Nise - I love your name. :) Armchair BEA was pretty awesome this year. I have found so many great new blogs like yours by hopping through everyones intro posts. I'm only about 2/3 done, but am determined to visit every single intro post. :)
