Saturday Snapshot

I had to go and brag that I had not been sick in years even with a cold! Since Wednesday night these items have been my best friends. I have been miserable. Got any home remedies to help with the congestion in order to sleep at night?

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

Nise, I'm with you. I hadn't been sick for so long that I didn't even recognize how horrible I was feeling when my cold hit. Chills, sore throat, headache, stuffy nose. Then last night I started throwing up. Wait a minute.. Is this like every illness I've avoided for the past few years? Hope you feel better soon. My mom swears by hot toddies, which somehow combine hot brandy. lemon, and sugar

Sorry you're not feeling well. What I do first thing in the morning and last thing at night when I have the cold is boil a pot of water and put a teaspoon of Vick's rub in it. I cover my head over the put with a towel and breathe deep for about 10 to 15 minutes. It really helps!

Sorry you're not feeling up to snuff, Nise. At the first sign of a cold, I take a few cold-eze and it never seems to develop into a full blown cold. Have you tried sleeping with an extra pillow?

I haven't had a cold in years...but whenever I start to feel symptoms, I dose myself with Airborne; and yes, I know that some say that doesn't work.

But it seems to be working for me.

My daughter takes Zicam, and she manages to stave off the worst of it.

Hang in there and good luck!

Ugh! Sorry you've been sick. I wish I had some home remedies to help you, but I don't. I hope you feel better soon.

My family doctor always recommended this for congestion: take a bowl of steaming water and add a generous pour of whiskey. Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl, breathing as deeply as you can to clear your head. If that doesn't work, drink a shot of the whiskey instead. Gotta love old country doctors! Hope you feel better.

I am with Lisa on the water bowl thing, though I do not add whiskey in it ;) But something else

I hope you feel better soon! I always rely heavily on vicks vapor rub, nyquil, hot tea, steamy showers and lots of rest while watching old movies.

Oh no Nise, that's terrible. I hate colds. The only thing I do any different is have one of those small humidifiers on at night. I sure hope you feel better soon.

Oh you poor thing! Colds are rotten. I don't know of any home remedies, I'm sorry. I was raised to just "ride it out"! I have some friends who rave about 'Cold-eeeze'.

I hope you feel better soon!

I love Vicks Vapor Rub who I'm stuffy. Not to rub on me by just to sniff...LOL

Sorry you've been sick - get better soon

Uh oh, I just said that same thing yesterday, haven't been sick in years. I better not get a cold now!

When I do have a cold I put one of those small steam humidifiers by the bed and take NyQuil, the original formula. You have to ask for it at the pharmacy now. The stuff off the shelf doesn't work.

Sorry you're under the weather. I use a cool air humidifier when I sleep (and have a cold).

This sounds like me. I NEVER get sick, but have had back to back cold/sinus infections this year. Hope you feel better soon!

I suffered from sinus infection for 5 weeks. It was hellish!

Crushed ginger boiled in a cup of water works. You can add honey if you wish, just before drinking. DON'T EVER BOIL HONEY.

Here is my Saturday
Snapshot
post!

I hope you feel better soon! I don't have any magic cures other than to spend the day in bed reading :)

Isn't that always the case? I hope you're feeling better. I swear by the Vicks plug in vapo pads to help breathe at night.

I so hope that you're feeling better!! I hate to jinx myself too but so far so good!!!

I hope you are better by now! Thera Flu is the only thing that works for me when I get a bad cold or sinus/throat issues.
