Explosive Eighteen

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127 from Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, she’s flying back to New Jersey solo, and Sasquatch is snoring in row 22. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. The FBI, the fake FBI, and guns-for-hire are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photograph– Stephanie Plum. Now she’s the target, and she doesn’t intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of a FBI sketch artist Stephanie recreates the person in the photo. Unfortunately the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she’ll need to watch her back.

Over at the Bail Bonds Agency it’s business as usual– until the bonds bus serving as Vinnie’s temporary HQ goes up in smoke, Stephanie’s wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their “largest” FTA yet, lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie’s apartment, and everyone wants to know what happened in Hawaii?!

Morelli, Trenton’s hottest cop, isn’t talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn’t talking about Hawaii. And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is…it’s complicated.
Another fast paced installment in the Stephanie Plum series. The major mystery/case was interesting, but I can do without her trying to apprehend the skips in the meantime as she always fails, and I just don’t find it funny anymore. I feel she should be more successful at her job. There is the requisite humor provided by Grandma and Lula. What happened in Hawaii was not as explosive as I was hoping. It seems like she is figuring out which of the men in her life is best for her, and hopefully will make a choice soon.  I have come this far and will stick with this series until it's end.

I gave up on this about book 6 or 7 because I couldn't stand reading the same thing over and over again. I can't believe Ranger and Morelli are STILL waiting for her to choose. I wonder how long this will go on?

Oh, my, yes. I would think she would be better at her job by now! But I guess her bumbling around makes it interesting...sort of.

I haven't read this one. I just read No. 1...and before that, I'd read 11 and 15.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

But will it ever end???? I agree with you in regards to making her better at her job..I mean come on! I'm listening to 17 in my car and have decided that is the way I will continue with this series. All I really want to know is who she will decide to love!

I admit I started to get burned out at book 3 or 4 -- Stephenie needs to grow.

I saw an interview with Katherine Heigl and Janet Evanovich. I really want to read these books now and see the movie.
