Years ago, they were all the best of friends. But as time passed and circumstances changed, they grew apart, became adults with families of their own, and began to forget about the past—and the terrible lie they all shared. But now Gordon, the youngest and wildest of the five, has died and the others are thrown together for the first time in years.
And then the revelations start.
Could their long-ago lie be the reason for their troubles today? Is it more dangerous to admit to what they’ve done or is it the strain of keeping the secret that is beginning to wear on them and everyone close to them? Each one of these old friends has to wonder if their secret has been discovered—and if someone within the circle is out to destroy them.
My first Laura Lippman book was the audiobook I Would Have Known You Anywhere which I really enjoyed. I had such high expectations for this audiobook. For me this one was boring. I was expecting the story to build up to the secret reveal, but it never did. I found it hard to figure out which character was speaking as it switches back and forth between many of them. A couple of them I found extremely unlikeable. This one just did not do anything for me, but I will read/listen to the author's next book.Author: Laura Lippman

Sorry you had such bad luck with this one. Maybe next time.
I think you may find another one more to your liking. She does write interesting books.
I have a couple of Laura Lippman books to read but don't think this is one of them and I'll probably give it a miss now lol. Thanks for your honesty Nise
I agree with your review and am relieved to know I wasn't the only one confused by the writing. This was the first book I read by this author and was disappointed. Here's the link to my review of it if interested: http://ourstack.blogspot.com/2011/10/most-dangerous-thing-by-laura-lippman.html
Bummer. I guess everyone (authors included) are allowed a misstep every once in a while. This wouldn't stop me from reading Lippman, but glad to be warned.
Sorry this one wasn't really good for you. I'm still reading I Would Have Known You Anywhere. I really should get it finished.
Sorry to hear it was boring, but at least you will give her another go
Uh oh! I have the book...wonder what I'll think about it?!
I didn't care for this one either. I thougt the "big" secret turned out to be almost a big nothing. Not her best, for sure.
