The world of book blogging has grown enormously and sometimes it can be hard to find a place. Share your tips for finding and keeping community in book blogging despite the hectic demands made on your time and the overwhelming number of blogs out there. If you’re struggling with finding a community, share your concerns and explain what you’re looking for–this is the week to connect!
When I first started book blogging (2007) the community was small enough that visiting and being familiar with most of them was easy. Over the last four years the community has grown by leaps and bounds and it is impossible to be familiar with, much less visit with the entire community.
I can understand that starting out today would be overwhelming, and patience would be needed as you find a place where you feel comfortable. Participating in the bigger events such as, Read-A Thon, Bloggiesta, BBAW, Armchair Bea are all ways to get an idea of all the wonderful blogs that are out there. Weekly memes are another way to get involved.
Commenting is a MUST. If you visit, you will get visitors.
I have a question for you regarding social media. Which do you use most for these sites, your phone or your computer?

I agree that commenting and participation are great ways to connect. As for social media, I don't use it nearly as much as other bloggers seem to, but when I do, I prefer to use the computer, which has a bigger screen and is easier to manage, I think. When I'm away from home, though, I do check sites like Twitter and Goodreads on my phone.
Never used my phone, so that is it :)
I am always pleased to see your comments on my blog, Nise :)
I use the computer to comment, as my phone won't allow that, but use the phone to check whether I have new comments.

I use my phone a lot for Twitter and Facebook, but I tend to post mostly on my computer. I find it easier. I don't read blogs on my phone, generally. I read and comment on my computer.
It seems like everything relates to Twitter these days, but I haven't started using it yet. I have enough to keep up with already! I use my computer for everything else though.
Just my computer or iTouch. I still have one of those old flip phones!! :D
I don't care about twitter either. Facebook is more than enough of a time sucker!!
Oh man. I use every social media tool that I can. I'm particularly fond of twitter. When I'm not home, I use my IPAD to stay in contact with my friends on the twitter App. me love it. twitter is great for making friends. Maintaining relationships.
well said. I don't own a phone unless you count my very ancient and out of date land line :)
Well said! Commenting and events are definitely a way to start. I have a Facebook page and a Twitter account, but I believe they are severely underutilized due to time constraints. I'd rather be reading books and other blogs than hanging out on Facebook and Twitter. ;)
I don't know how people find the time to use Facebook, Twitter, and all the new ones that pop up and still have time to read and blog! It makes me think that I really need to learn time management!
I like the computer, but then I rarely use my cell phone so I'm not a good judge. Tried to use my hubby's Ipad on vacation and was disappointed.
