Hugh Licorne (which translates to unicorn) will push himself to his very limits for those he is loyal to. So when a corrupt steward turns over his liege’s castle to the enemy, Hugh risks life and limb to escape the castle and get word to his lord that the castle has fallen. Exhausted and incoherent, Hugh stumbles into court several days later and is so drained he doesn’t realize he is in the presence of not only his lord, but the king of England. Impressed by such loyalty, King Stephen knows he has found a true knight and recruits Hugh into his service, offering him his choice of brides to seal the deal.
From the moment Hugh sets eyes on the bold Lady Audris, he knows he has found the woman destined to be his wife. But winning her trust and defending her from her enemies will be the greatest battle he has ever faced.
Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. Historical romance, however, is one I usually pass on unless it is highly recommend to me. This is the latter but heavy on the historical side. I did appreciate that a lot of the passion/romance took place outside the bedroom. The medieval history was fascinating and one I have not read much about. I took this one on vacation with me last month and it is ideal for that setting.Author: Roberta Gellis

Thanks for the review. I'm with you on the historical romance.

I am not much of a 'historical fiction' reader, although this ones sounds interesting, I think because there is a little romance thrown in.
Thanks for your visit to My Reading Corner today.
I love historical fiction but like you usually pass on the romance ones. They are normally too little on the fiction and much too much on the romance for me.
I don't usually reading historical books. I prefer contemps, but this sounds good.
I could skip the romance in a historical fiction book. A little flirtyness as we saw in Dead in the Grave, that's o.k.
Sounds like one I would enjoy and I'm glad that this one worked in regards for the romance....
This one sounds really good. Just the kind I would like :=D
