On The Top

MM is hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Today's Musing: What book tops your TBR (to be read) pile right now? Is it something you own, or something you have to borrow, or something you’ll be purchasing? Why do you want to read it so badly?

Right now The Passage by Justin Cronin is sitting on the top of my stack.  I will be reading this next as it was a requested book from the library and I know there are many people behind me waiting for this one.

I decided to give it a try even though I am on a paranormal break.  I like big books and this one is huge!

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born.”

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

As civilization swiftly crumbles into a primal landscape of predators and prey, two people flee in search of sanctuary. FBI agent Brad Wolgast is a good man haunted by what he’s done in the line of duty. Six-year-old orphan Amy Harper Bellafonte is a refugee from the doomed scientific project that has triggered apocalypse. He is determined to protect her from the horror set loose by her captors. But for Amy, escaping the bloody fallout is only the beginning of a much longer odyssey—spanning miles and decades—towards the time and place where she must finish what should never have begun.

I love that the library gets all the new books, but hate that when you finally get it, you have to read it right away to get it back in time. Sometimes it really messes up my schedule!

Here's my answer.

Hope you love The Passage...more than I did. :-)
for me, it was just too needlessly long...way long.
I have an Amazon Vine book here that I think will be next, so I can stay in good graces with the program.

Never heard of it, I hope that you will enjoy it. I personally don't have a TBR ...not really. I do have books I haven't read yet...but I am a mood reader...it really does depend on my mood as to what I will actually read next. Here' s mine

This is one book that doesn't appeal to me. I've read good reviews about it and also some that weren't to impressed with it. I look forward to your review.

I like Nickolas Sparks books, however, Message In A Bottle was not a favorite of mine. I personally didn't like the book or the movie, even though one of my favorite actors Paul Newman was in the movie. There is another of Sparks books that I never read and probably never will, its storyline just did not appeal to me. Thanks for your comment, I got a chuckle that you felt like throwing the book at the wall. Or did you go ahead and throw it? So funny.. ; )

I like books that are around 250-300 pages. I'm very impatient and like to find out how the book ends.
