Uglies

Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Not for her license - for turning pretty. In Tally's world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few more weeks Tally will be there.

But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She'd rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world - and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.

Scott Westerfeld's first book in the "Uglies" trilogy was an action packed, page turner that examines true beauty, loyalty, ethics, honesty and government control.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will get the second book Pretties right away .

I loved this book too! The whole series was great - and hard to put down. :)

I think I'm the only person who felt blah about this book. And I just didn't care enough to read Pretties.

Another one of those books that is on my radar, but I haven't gotten around to reading. I think I will read it this year for my U book in the A-Z reading challenge!

Oh Nise, you have to stop doing such a good job with your reviews, My pile of books is ever growing, and I don't feel like dusting around them, so I just read. It's bad around here. thanks for your review, haven't disappointed me yet.

P.S. I love your new "boxed in" review format. Looks very clean, and easy to find your thought.
