(Mercy Hospital Series #1)
Tyndale House Publishers (May 6, 2009)
Synopsis: After her brother dies in a trauma room, nurse Claire Avery can no longer face the ER. She's determined to make a fresh start--new hospital, new career in nursing education--move forward, no turning back. But her plans fall apart when she's called to offer stress counseling for medical staff after a heart-breaking day care center explosion. Worse, she's forced back to the ER, where she clashes with Logan Caldwell, a doctor who believes touchy-feely counseling is a waste of time. He demands his staff be as tough as he is. Yet he finds himself drawn to this nurse educator ... who just might teach him the true meaning of healing.
My thoughts: Critical Care, first book in the Mercy Hospital Series and is a very clean read. This story that has realistic, but not too graphic, medical crises and a bit of romance that keep you turning the pages. Even thought it has the predictable girl and boy meet, dislike each other and then fall in love they are believable and by no means perfect. The secondary characters are just as interesting. Hopefully Erin’s story is up next.

CANDACE CALVERT is a writer and ER nurse who believes that love, laughter, and faith are the very best medicines of all. After an equestrian accident broke her neck, she shared the inspirational account of her accident and recovery in Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul, and her writing career was launched. Born in Northern California and the mother of two, Candace lives in the hill country of Texas.
