My Friend Amy hosts this weekly carnival.
Whether or not you celebrate Halloween, there's something about the shorter days and chilly air that makes one want to curl up with a scary book. The horror market for Christian fiction is growing in creativity and testing all sorts of boundaries. The suspense market is also very rich with many talented authors.
So my question(s) for you is...what's the best Christian fiction horror or suspense novel that you've read? What book would you recommend to someone who wanted to try out these genres? What's a book in these genres you want to read but haven't yet?
I read a lot of suspense and would agree that Christian fiction has come a long way in the last few years in this genre. Some of my favorites are:
The Hidden Faces series by Brandilynn Collins
The Kanner Lake series by Brandilynn Collins
The Day of Evil series by Melanie Wells
My TBR list keeps growing and growing. I am looking forward to reading:
Susan May Warren’s Mission: Russia series
James Scott Bell's Buchanan series
Any recommendations?

Well, you read my post already, so you probably know what I recommend... the Fire of Heaven trilogy by Bill Myers was awesome! And Blink by Ted Dekker!
I have tried some of Brandilyn Collins before and I couldn't finish them for some reason... guess I should try again!
Wow - you've got a better selection than I do - I do have one of Brandilynn Collins latest ARCs (Dark Pursuit I think) on my TBR pile, but I haven't heard of the others you mentioned, and prior to Amy's question, hadn't even considered that Christian fiction had a myster/thriller genre!! I know - silly me!!

This is the second recommendation for the Russia series. I'll have to look for it as you all make it sound interesting and I'm intrigued by other country settings.

The Day of Evil series is a GREAT recommendation for this time of year!!
I really liked the first book of the Kanner Lake series. I wasn't as thrilled with two and three though.
Thanks for playing!
Same here, wyn. I like other country settings too, mostly Europe. Guess I'll add this up to my TBR too (Russia series).
@Lindsey, I loved the book you mentioned, Blink by Ted Dekker! Most of Dekker's books are very awesome for me, as well as Peretti's. Now I should really try Collin's, there are a lot of recommendations about her books.
BTW, to all of Dekker's fans as well as Peretti's, their book House is now in film, will be in theaters on NOvember 7. See Dekker's site or House' official website for the list of cities House will be shown.
