Stone Cold by David Baldacci
This is the third book that features the Camel Club and is a sequel to The Collectors. Oliver Stone and his friends, Milton, Reuben and Caleb are back and helping their friend Annabelle stay alive after swindling a casino owner out of 40 million dollars for killing her mom. Oliver becomes distracted as three members from his former “secret ops” group are being assassinated. He knows he is next and is trying to figure out why they are being killed. What does his former CIA boss have to do with these murders? No stop action and suspense kept me reading this book.
Eye of the Beholder by David Ellis
Fifteen years ago, prosecutor Paul Riley made his mark by convicting Terry Burgos, who was inspired by song lyrics to kill six young women. Riley's in private practice working for the father of one of the six victims, Cassie Bentley, when similar murders are taking place all over again. Paul starts receiving notes that appear to have a connection to the Burgos murders. Did someone else may have had a hand in the crimes for which Terry took sole responsibility? This is a question that Paul must answer. As he investigates with the police, things are not what they appear to be. This book was hard to get into at first with so much information and the switching between first and third person point of view. I am glad I stuck with it as it turned out to be a good read. Warning: may be a little gory for some readers.
Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik
A story about the relationships between five friends of different ages, backgrounds, life experiences over the course of 30 years of marriage, child-rearing, divorce, and sickness. They begin getting to know each other by forming the Freesia Court Book Club which later becomes know as the Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons. Each chapter is told from a different characters' perspective. With each character choosing a book for the book club which they do discuss (a little). This is not a man-bashing or angry woman book.
Be Sweet by Diann Hunt
Char takes a break from her life as a realtor and returns home to help her sister’s family tap the sugar maples and plan their parent’s 50th anniversary party. She is dreading coming home as it is a place that holds painful memories and deep hurts. What unfolds is a hilarious, touching and sweet story of finding healing, forgiveness, and learning what is most important in life. I highly recommend this book!
