Fall Into Reading - Reviews

First round of reviews for the Fall Into Reading Challenge.

Dead of Night and Web of Lies are books 3 and 4 in the Hidden Face Series by Brandilynn Collins. If you like on the edge of your seat fast paced bordering on creepy, this series is for you. It is the story of Annie Kingston, a forensic artist who moves back home after her divorce and high profile job as a court artist to focus on raising her kids as a single mom.
In Dead of Night a serial killer is targeting young women and Annie is called in to draw the victims in order to identify them. The next victim is found very close to Annie’s home. Meanwhile, her son is having troubles of his own, that begin to intertwine with the murder investigation. Could her son have knowledge of this killer? Annie begins to realize that intense prayer is needed to combat this type of evil that is threatening her home and family.
In Web of Lies, Annie witnesses a murder and draws the face of the killer. The killer may be holding a hostage and with the help of Chelsea Adams, who sees visions, they do what the police are unable to do…reveal the Web of Lies before they threaten to trap more victims one being Annie’s daughter. Annie struggles with trusting God completely and fearing for her family. I would suggest that you begin these books early in the day with enough time to finish in one day and don’t read them at night!!!

Up Close and Personal by Fern Michaels
Who is Trinity Henderson? Is she Sarabess Windsor’s a second child born for the sole purpose of providing bone marrow for her firstborn? Or is she just the Gardener and his wife’s daughter who ran away at 15. Why did no one try to find her and why now after 15 years is someone searching for Trinity? This is a quick read with a predictable ending. Not one of the author’s best stories

What Matters Most by Luanne Rice is the continuing story of Sister Bernadette and Tom Kelly from the book Sandcastles as they search for their son given up for adoption in Ireland 20 years ago because Bernie felt the calling to become a nun. These two characters were so memorable from the first book and I was looking forward to the continuation of their story. I am somewhat disappointed with certain aspects of the story, expecting a happy ending and not totally getting it. This author has written much better books in my honest opinion.

Without a Trace by Colleen Coble
This is book #1 in the Rock Harbor Series. Bree Nichols, who lost her husband and son in an airplane crash one year ago, is part of a K-9 Search and Rescue Team with her dog Samson. She lives in a lighthouse in Upper Michigan that she is restoring meanwhile searching for the crash site which no one has been able to fine in order to learn the truth about the crash. The story begins with Bree and her dog being called in to help search for two missing kids. Then the twists and turns begin and Bree is trying to figure out if they are all related to the plane crash that killer her husband and son a year ago. This book is a page turner that keeps you guessing until the end and thankful for some loose ends so the story continues.

From this round of review I would recommend Dead of Night, Web of Lies and Without a Trace.
